Honestly, what good is voting?

I recently ran across this article and it struck a chord with me. Normally I would be deterred by the crass nature and rough treatment of the subjects by the author. I apologize if you are offended by it.
Last week I was listening to an NPR program about getting out the vote, and how difficult it is to get young people to engage. We're talking about a generation more connected and with more access to information resources than ever before. News travels quickly across Twitter and Facebook, and many kids are able to keep up with a dizzying number of "Indy artists", yet a  huge number of them can't name the vice-president.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1368482/How-ignorant-Americans-An-alarming-number-U-S-citizens-dont-know-basic-facts-country.html

As a young person, I know that most of my peers are completely uninformed and un-involved with current politics. Given the opportunity however they will express outrage about the politics surrounding so-called reproductive rights, healthcare legislation, or voter id. These people can rarely name a candidate outside of a presidential election.

It's obvious top me why, but what I wonder is why should they? Why is it so important that they vote? It's an act of minimum commitment, requires no prior knowledge, and is as Kevin Williamson states, "power without responsibility". If a college student is too intellectually challenged to get himself registered, and to a poll without being prodded and begged to do so, should they really be casting a vote at all? Is this the participation we want from young people?

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be." --Thomas Jefferson to Charles Yancey, 1816."

Many would argue that these questions are regressive, that it's important that all people have a voice, but I'm not sure I agree anymore. The youth should not be encouraged to vote unless they are first educated and become involved in process in some more meaningful way. The act of voting alone implies no real participation or awareness. An uniformed vote is not better than no vote at all.

Christian's Have A Duty

"Oh bless our God, you peoples! And make the voice of His praise to be heard, Who keeps our soul among the living, And does not allow or feet to be moved." Psalm 66:8-9
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matt 28:19-20
Christians have been convinced into thinking that we are to be simply silent sweethearts in our relationship to the world, especially in the civic arena. We have forgotten that while we are to be submissive to governing authorities, We the People are the governing authority in America, and what we decide to accept, endorse, support, tolerate, or silently allow will be what we end up with. Our system of self government requires that we speak out and be heard. And it is our faith that should prompt us, standing up for our King, to make necessary loud noises to affect and impact change. Our culture that we complain so much about is in our hands, it is our responsibility, our "trust" or "talent" if you will, given to us by God. We have the ability, the voice, and the liberty to make the necessary changes in our culture. We should be doing it in mass numbers and if we don't we are consenting to a Godless culture that our posterity will be immersed in and it will difficult if not impossible to reverse without extremely painful struggles.
Our founders established a government of the people by the people, and a nation upon a united belief in God! May we once again learn true history! It would be very wise of us to heed the warning of George Washington in his farewell address:
"And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds....reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle."
As immorality increases in our society, the decline of the Church increases, and the prospects for conversions to Christ grow fewer and fewer every day.

Tina Kincaid
God's blessings on us all,
"...But a Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and borugh him to an inn and took care of him." Luke10: 33-34
America's first hospital, the Pennsylvania Hospital was established by Founding Father Benjamin Franklin to "care for the sick, poor, and insane who were wandering the streets of Philadelphia". The logo Franklin created for the hospital, which it still uses today, was a picture of the Good Samaritan with the passage from Luke 10:35 beneath; "Take care of him and I will repay thee." Franklin pointed out the Biblical emphasis on helping others saying:
"The great Author of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), Whose life should be the constant object of our imitation, (as far as it is inimitable), always showed the greatest compassion and regard for the sick; His disdained not to visit and minister comfort and health to the meanest(lowest) of the people; and He frequently inculcated the same disposition in His doctrines and precepts to His disciples."
This Bible lesson indisputably shaped America's benevolent nature. Whenever there is a disaster here or in any other country, Americans rush in to help. Nations primarily secular or of a non-Biblical faith are rarely proactive in organizing humanitarian relief. And although the Scriptures are clear that it was never the responsibility of government, (but rather individual followers of Christ and the Church) to help those in need, Christian-motivated civil leaders did secure government protection for individual benevolence through various laws that encourage personal charity. As the U.S. Supreme Court once declared:
"The principles of the law of charities....prevail in all civilized countries pervaded by the spirit of Christianity" (1890).
The benevolence that characterizes America---the compassion and humanitarianism so deeply embedded into our culture is a direct product of Biblical Christianity. Eliminate such Christian influence, and the societal motivation to benevolence soon dissipates----as evidenced by non-Biblical nations across the world.

POPULATION AND THE AGE OF THE EARTH

POPULATION AND THE AGE OF THE EARTH
"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it..." (Genesis 1:28). How long have  people been  living on the earth?  The evolutionist  says two million years. The Bible-believing Christian says about six thousand. Who is right?

Statistically, a couple must have 2.1 children to keep a population at the same level.  In practice, this means a minimum of three children per family.  Let us suppose for a moment that the biblical account of the Genesis Flood, in which just eight people survived is true.  Let us further suppose that each family from this point in history had 2.4 children  on average. This very modest number will take into account all the deaths through infant mortality, plagues and war.  How long would it take to reach today's world population? Surprisingly, the answer is just less than five thousand years.  This figure fits nicely into known historical records.

Now suppose we take the evolutionary view that mankind has been on this planet for two million years and we begin with two people--or eight (it will make little difference)--and they also had the statistical 2.4 children per family.  We will finish up with a number so impossibly large that the universe itself would not hold them!  Aware of this problem, the textbooks explain it away by speaking of "population stability throughout this time."  This is nothing short of an appeal to a miracle!

Frankly, the biblical account is far more believable.

"the soul of America is, at its best and highest, Christian"

God's blessings for everyone,
"The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance." Psalm 33: 11-12
"The good in the United States would never have comeinto being without the blessing and power of Jesus Christ.... Whoever tries to conceive the American word without taking full account of the suffering and love and salvation of Christ is only dreaming. I know how embarrassing this matter is to politicians, businessmen, and cynics; but, whatever these honored men think, the irrefutable truth is that the soul of America is, at its best and highest, Christian."

Black Man's Trojan Horse

BLACK MAN'S TROJAN HORSE

This is one of the most profound messages that can be put out to the public. My respect for Lloyd Marcus is great. He is truly an American Patriot! If a white person would have said what he says here, I would expect a backlash from the media and others. I agree with his sentiments and statements. I would ask you to read it and forward it; unless you don't agree with his analysis. And if you don't agree, then may you be blessed with no consequences from it.

A Black man's point of view.
By Lloyd Marcus
As millions of my fellow Americans, I am outraged, devastated and extremely angry by the democrat's unbelievable arrogance and disdain for We The People. Despite our screaming "no" from the rooftops, they forced Obamacare down our throats. Please forgive me for using the following crude saying, but it is very appropriate to describe what has happened. "Don't urinate on me and tell me it's raining." Democrats say their mission is to give all Americans health care. The democrats are lying. Signing Obamacare into law against our will and the Constitution is tyranny and step one of their hideous goal of having as many Americans as possible dependent on government, thus controlling our lives and fulfilling Obama's promise to fundamentally transform America.    I keep asking myself. How did our government move so far from the normal procedures of getting things done?  Could a white president have so successfully pulled off shredding the Constitution to further his agenda?  I think not.    Ironically, proving America is completely the opposite of the evil racist country they relentlessly accuse her of being, progressives used America's goodness, guilt and sense of fair play against her.  In their quest to destroy America as we know it, progressives borrowed a brilliant scheme from Greek mythology. They offered America a modern day Trojan Horse, a beautifully crafted golden shiny new black man as a presidential candidate.  Democrat Joe Biden lauded Obama as the first clean and articulate African American candidate.  Democrat Harry Reid said Obama only uses a black dialect when he wants.    White America relished the opportunity to vote for a black man naively believing they would never suffer the pain of being called racist again.  Black Americans viewed casting their vote for Obama as the ultimate Affirmative Action for America's sins of the past.   Then there were the entitlement loser voters who said, "I'm votin' for the black dude who promises to take from those rich SOBs and give to me."    Just as the deceived Trojans dragged the beautifully crafted Trojan Horse into Troy as a symbol of their victory, deceived Americans embraced the progressive's young, handsome, articulate and so called moderate black presidential candidate as a symbol of their liberation from accusation of being a racist nation.  Also like the Trojan Horse, Obama was filled with the enemy hiding inside.    Sunday, March 21, 2010, a secret door opened in Obama, the shiny golden black man. A raging army of democrats charged out.  Without mercy, they began their vicious bloody slaughter of every value, freedom and institution we Americans hold dear; launching the end of America as we know it.    Wielding swords of votes reeking with the putrid odor of back door deals, the democrats landed a severe death blow to America and individual rights by passing Obamacare.    The mainstream liberal media has been relentlessly badgering the Tea Party movement with accusations of racism.  Because I am a black tea party patriot, I am bombarded with interviewers asking me the same veiled question.  "Why are you siding with these white racists against America's first African American president?"  I defend my fellow patriots who are white stating, These patriots do not give a hoot about Obama's skin color.  They simply love their country and oppose his radical agenda.  Obama's race is not an issue."    Recently, I have come to believe that perhaps I am wrong about Obama's race not being an issue.  In reality, Obama's presidency has everything to do with racism, but not from the Tea Party movement.  Progressives and Obama have exploited his race from the rookie senator's virtually unchallenged presidential campaign to his unprecedented bullying of America into Obamacare. Obama's race trumped all normal media scrutiny of him as a presidential candidate and most recently even the Constitution of the United States.  Obamacare forces all Americans to purchase health care which is clearly unconstitutional.    No white president could get away with boldly and arrogantly thwarting the will of the American people and ignoring laws.  President Clinton tried universal health care.  Bush tried social security reform. The American people said "No" to both presidents' proposals and it was the end of it. So how can Obama get away with giving the American people "the finger?"  The answer:  He is black.    The mainstream liberal media continues to portray all who oppose Obama in any way as racist.  Despite a list of failed policies, overreaches into the private sector, violations of the Constitution and planned destructive legislation too numerous to mention in this article, many Americans are still fearful of criticizing our first black president.  Incredible.    My fellow Americans, you must not continue to allow yourselves to be "played" and intimidated by Obama's race or the historical context of his presidency.  If we are to save America , the greatest nation on the planet, Obama's actions must be thwarted.
