"In selecting men for office.....look to his character."

God's blessings for you all,
"And so it was the next day, that Moses sat to judge the people, and the people stood before Moses from morning until evening." Exodus 18:13
"Moreover you shall select from all the people, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties and rulers of tens." Exodus 18:21

"In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect (party) of the candidate---look to his character. It is alleged by men of loose principles or defective views of the subject that religion and morality are not necessary or important qualifications of political stations. But the Scriptures teach a different doctrine. They direct that rulers should be men who "rule in the fear of God, able men such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness." ~ Noah Webster ~
America framed its government to elect representatives according to the directive in Exodus 18:21 which establishes is a constitutional republic. God established through Moses a framework of laws to govern their nation and then established the system of leaders to govern the people according to that law. So in America we have our Constitution, based on God's higher law....."laws of nature and of nature's God" which they also described as the Moral Law, is the framework to govern out nation. This law is higher than any elected officials, and is second only to the Bible upon which it is based.
"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form Of Government." Article IV, Section IV of the U.S. Constitution
These verses in Exodus 18 were cited by our Founders as the basis of our governing document, and has also been the subject of many influential sermons preached during the founding era.
"Our citizens should early understand that the genuine source of correct republican principles is the Bible."
~ Noah Webster ~
America's republican form of government is derived from the Bible. But it can only be preserved if we as citizens know and heed the Biblical directives for choosing the right leaders at all levels, local, county, state, and federal.
