Jesus is teaching about moral strength.
Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter to Dr. Benjamin Rush in 1803:
"The practice of morality being necessary for the well-being of
society, He (God) has taken care to impress its precepts so indelibly on
our hearts that they shall not be
effaced by the subtleties of our brain. We all agree in the obligation
of the moral precepts of Jesus, and nowhere will they be found delivered
in greater purity than in His discourses."
Our Founders were
believers in God, and His Word, they are our more modern day examples of
good leadership. Closer to us in history. We should know them, and our
history, and teach it to our children in order to restore and preserve
all the blessings of liberty and justice for our grandchildren.
